Cost of Living

An amount based on the market basket of goods and services required for living. Often the components include the costs of housing, food, transportation and electricity. Governments normally produce these statistics and track changes. There is normally a difference in cost of living between the home and host countries, and this most frequently represented by an index number. (See Cost of Living Allowance also known as COLA).
