Furniture and Furnishings

A company’s policy may or may not provide for the shipment of an assignee’s furniture to the host country. If it does not, the company may provide assistance to furnish the assignee’s housing either through an allowance, actual purchase or rental of furniture and furnishings or rental of furnished housing. If the company purchases furniture, the policy should contain provisions on who owns that furniture. There are firms which specialize in furniture leasing and rental on an international basis.
