A radioactive gas produced naturally in the ground by the normal decay of uranium and radium in the earth’s crust. The gas percolates up into the air outdoors the gas dissipates, indoors the gas builds up. It is odorless, colorless and tasteless. Radon enters a home through cracks in the ground floor slab, sump pump holes, pores in concrete block walls and gaps around loose fitting pipes. Radon gas has been found to be a cancer causing substance.
