The term as used relating to real property means the owner of real property is restricted or prohibited from doing certain things relating to the property. For instance, the requirement in a deed that a lot may be used for the construction or not more than a one-family dwelling, costing not less then thousand dollars ($10,000), is termed to be a restriction; also a legislative ordinance affecting all properties in a given area, requiring that improvements on property shall not be constructed any closed than 25 feet of the street curb, is a restriction by operation of law.
